I talked to a ford rep at the LA Auto show and he said that ford will release the concept design of the next lightning within 1.5 years. Depending on reaction he said ford will try to produce the following year.
![]() Can't wait to see what they have been working on. By the way he said they are still debating a v10 or large v8, but either way he said expect around 600 hp or more...supercharged of course ![]()

idk...I like it. If thats the one they base the lightning off of it would be sweet. I don't think the weight would matter much with 600+ hp lol. I mean if they weighed 10000lbs they would still keep up with a stock 03-04 lol and I doubt they are gonna weigh that much.
I seen a nice lariat at the show. 4 door long bed and the works, it was super nice, and it had a gross weight of 7100. Not too bad for a giant truck |

How many Lightnings do you think Ford would have sold if it couldn't tow, haul, or go off-road like the SRT-10? Same? Less? More? My guess would be less. If a truck can't tow, haul or go off-road, it is no longer a truck, but a huge, expensive, heavy, pile of waste of gas that's sorta quick.

Yeah...it would be hella fun, but a new truck would be fun too. I guess either way I can't go wrong. New one = new truck all new mod opportunities or no new lightning = mod mine even more

If you're responding to my post about the Lightning not being able to do any of those, then you misread my post

I hope they do make one...
I love my 04, but its nice to see something new and updated come out every once in a while. Besides something has to come out to show that Saleen a Roush just how poorly put together and slow they really are. LOL

Seriously, Those trucks are not as fast as I had expected. I personally can't wait for a gen 3. I doubt that it will actually come out anytime soon. Oh well at least it will give me time to save up. |

Gen3 L will appear in 2012 when the 5.4 raptor sales are non existent and the 6.2L raptor sales are weak, and all of the Gen1 and Gen2 owners are waving money and screaming for a 6.2L TT short wheel base street truck.
Chrysler will be owned by Fiat, and the viper truck will be replaced with an oversized go-cart. GM will be bankrupt and put all of their money into the Camaro with hopes of bringining back its fan base. Toyota owners will realize how many corners were cut on the 3UR-FE 5.7L and the S/C owners with the vented block mods will all be lined up for the Gen3 Lightning as well. We will see one, sooner or later.

I won't hold my breath either. Why in the hell did Ford produce the Raptor anyways!??? SVT was always about speed and on road performance, not offroad.

Besides, in terms of trucks, a single cab short bed street truck isn't very practical for most people. Not that a raptor will be practical either, but at least it appeals to a crowd who favor trucks more than cars (the offroad crowd). |

I think that they could have done just fine with another lightning. Most owners are proud to have a lightning and I am willing to bet that a decent amount of the gen 1 and 2 owners would be more than willing to make the extra space in the garage. I know if they did make one I would definitely be waiting in line to get one. Black to match my 99 of course.
However I do think it will take some time before we even see another concept. I think ford is gonna focus on making trucks (for work) and fuel efficient cars to compete with honda and toyota and others |
